VAP has a strong commitment to developing Plymouth’s visual arts ecology through a range of activities. VAP Activators are involved in the strategic development of Plymouth’s grassroots and DIY arts activity by identifying and generating new opportunities for visual arts practitioners (and those involved in the delivery of visual arts activity in the city) to develop skills, knowledge and new professional relationships.

In 2017, VAP established a new Talent Development Programme designed to help VAP & Horizon fulfil their shared goals of supporting a step-change in the ambition and capacity of contemporary visual arts activity in the city in the run up to 2020.
Throughout 2017-2018, artist & educator Rachel Dobbs will be working as VAP’s Co-ordinator for the Talent Development Programme, to facilitate the development and delivery of a range of workshops, professional development schemes and forum events.
Visual Art Plymouth’ s Talent Development Programme during 2017-2018 is supported financially through Horizon – a collaborative two year programme of visual contemporary arts, funded through Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence fund and supported by Plymouth Culture.
